We are done with Week #4 of radiation. Bert had to go on Saturday for a "make-up" treatment because last week, the computer was down on his machine. We didn't want to tack on an extra treatment at the end, so the doctor gave us the o.k. to come on Saturday. No fun now, but we can hopefully make a clean break on Friday 4/18 as planned.

Bert's hair is about half gone now. So much for the "patchy" hair loss! It's because of radiation, not chemo, but it has still been a pretty big adjustment for him. He says if his sideburns start to go, he'll shave it all off. Also, there's now talk of growing a goatee as an experimental new look! We'll see...other than that, his blood work is all great so far, and the oncologist says he's doing fine overall. He has some random waves of nausea, but it's manageable with his medications. It isn't too often either, thankfully. The radiation has also caused a little bit of brain swelling which is making it more difficult for him to get some of his thoughts and words out as quickly as he used to, but the doctor told us this should go away when radiation is done. So in general, the tedium of the process and the increase in side effects is taking a little bit of a toll, but Bert is adjusting well as needed. Come on Apr il 18th!

Bert, I love your new look, it's very cutting edge, very "Daughtrey". And now I'm thinking I might want Marshall to grow a goatee. See... you're a trend setter! Keep it going!
